It's been a while since my last post.  Life has been happening and it's all good!   Today, is a cloudy cool day in St. Louis, and it feels so wonderful.  This summer was record setting heat.  During all those hot days, we got board and decided to paint the inside of your home.  It took some time, and we are thrilled with the results!
This is our new color.  It looks a bit pink  in this picture but it's not...it's leaning towards the taupe side.

The fireplace mantle is decorated in my summer colors, but soon to be decorated for fall!

This end table is holding 2 of my GW finds...and the picture in the gold frame is of, my Grandmother Hoit's old Victorian house.  Many wonderful memories for me lived inside that old house.

I just could not resist adding just a touch of fall, around the house.  Fall is my favorite season, and with how hot it has been this summer...i say Fall bring it on!

Fall colors on the coffee table...and my sweet "dee dee" sleeping on the couch, Life is Good!

Just dreaming of fall evenings.

Changing it up a bit....

Today, dawned gray and rather bleak.  I NEEDED just a touch of SPRING in my house.  So the hunt began, downstairs and upstairs....and here is what I found.

I purchased the poppy arrangement a year or so ago..and just realized I had a matching tray downstairs!

Don't you LOVE IT when a plan comes together!

I was thinking the snack bar could use a "change up" too.

I was on a roll, so adding some ivy to the Angels made me feel like SPRING!

Now, I am shaking those Winter Blues off my shoes!
So, this is just a start of SPRING...and yes, I know there is a ton of winter left...but for now..this will have to do.

Mini room re-do.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday, everyone!  Nothing spells "Super Bowl", like new curtains and a new ceiling fan!  Yep, that's right...my AMAZING, AWESOME DH worked all of yesterday and part of this morning, putting up curtains and hanging a new light and fan.   We NEEDED new curtains...the other would not have made it through one more washing.

Here is the "BEFORE"

The bed was a wedding gift 39 years ago from my parents. We are using this bed in one of the guest rooms.

Here is the "AFTER"

The vintage bed belonged to my parents. They recently gave it to us, and I adore it!

This pretty wooden folding screen was a $15.00 garage sale find.

  • I thought I might use a bit of a "bird" theme in the Master Bedroom for a while.  It reminds me that spring is not too far away.

These sweet little chippies send a springtime message.

Don't you just love Botanical prints!
The total cost on the re-do was only, $212.00!   The new curtains and Alabaster glass fan made a big impact for minimal cost. Most important, Vinnie approves!
Have a fun day, today...count your blessings...love your family...and thank your Lord.

Just a bit more elegant...

Good morning everyone.  After cleaning house this morning, I decided to kick it up a notch and make things a bit more elegant.   If you know me...I am not really elegant...or even graceful...but I thought my home might be, for awhile at least.  And yes, my windows are open in Febuary..it's 60* in St. Louis today.  The birds are singing like it is spring, so I am going to enjoy every minute of this lovely amazing weather.

I added a white linen tablecloth under the table runner.
I brought in the foyer lamp into the dinning room for a quick change.  I think it looks nice in here.

Silver Treasures and Valentines

This lovely old silver tray was sitting on a dusty old shelf at a local resale shop.  She was tarnished and sad looking.  Well the "old gal" came home with me that winter day.  Once home she was given a warm soapy bath, and the polished up nice and shiny!  And here she is....(oh, and that fluffy arm in the picture is my sweet "Vinnie".

I added my Red Transferware Teapot, an old garage sale angel, faux grapes and a swirl votive. Isn't it just the "berries"!  Total cost of this little grouping, LESS than $6.00!  Don't you just adore going shopping in your own home!

Oh Lord, thank you for letting me blog once again!

It's be since November 27th, since I have been able to blog.  Oh, how I missed each and everyone of you during this absents.  Due to health reasons and just be generally overwhelmed, I stopped.  BUT, now I am back and better than ever.  So welcome to our home, once again...it's been just too long since we have had you as our guest!

So, let's start out with our romantic Valentine's Day Mantle.  My cherubs are easily adapted to celebrate the LOVE holiday.

With the mantle so busy, I went for a more classic look on the end table.  The old book is "Rebecca of Sunny Brook Farm" with a date of 1923 on the inside cover.

The other day on my way to my mother's home, I stopped by GW and there it was, this heavy cut glass beauty!  Isn't she just the berries!!  $9.89, and she was all mine.   On the same day, I scored this lovely old candle holder.  The patina is perfect, and she too JUMPED into my card for $2.89!

She really isn't old, but she thinks she is! :)   I don't know about you, but when I find to treasures in one day at GW, I swear it feels like I have wings on my feet!

I place this love worded picture on an old stand behind my Bible, and I think it looks perfect.  The patina on the stand is the same patina that is on the cherub candle holder.  Ahhh, who could ask for anything more!

Tomorrow, we will move into the dinning room.  I just can't wait for you to see all the RED, Hearts, and Silver in there!
Blessings,
Rebecca

But baby it's COLD outside..

Armed with lights, red velvet ribbon, wreathes and LOTS of them, candles, gold ribbon, and tons of coffee...this morning my wonderful DH
and I headed outside.  The wind swirled the leaves at our feet and stung our cheeks...but we were not detoured.  Our mission was to turn our sweet little home, into a home you might have seen in days long gone.
We hope you enjoy what you see, as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
This Christmas is going to be the very best Christmas!

Yes, it IS beginning to look alike lot Christmas!
